Makayla Williams
Marketing Associate
(She/Her)
Makayla is very passionate about the mission of Francis Financial and the firm’s commitment to financial empowerment. At a young age, Makayla’s mother taught her the importance of financial independence and inspired her to learn as much as she could about gender issues and equality. She assists in all marketing efforts and brings positivity and enthusiasm to every task.
Professionally
Makayla graduated from George Washington University, where she earned a degree in International Affairs with a specialization in Global Public Health and a minor in French. She was particularly interested in gender issues through the lens of International Affairs and took courses such as “Women, Rights and Gender Equality” and “Women and Leadership in Africa.” Makayla did a semester abroad in Paris as well as a summer as an au pair in the Parisian suburbs. After graduation, she moved to Paris full-time and immersed herself in the French language and culture. She spent two years as an au pair to four children and one year teaching high school English. During this time, Makayla discovered a love for marketing after heading up the social media, video content and brand image for a Parisian brand strategist specializing in helping small, women-led businesses.
Personally
Makayla is passionate about all things music, having learned to play the flute, cello, and tenor saxophone. She spends as much time as possible at the symphony, the opera, and any other concert she can get tickets to. She also loves to travel and has backpacked extensively around Western Europe. Makayla has also always been the photographer for her friends and family, and can oftentimes be found with her camera by her side. She is exceedingly empathetic and enthusiastic, making her the “mom” in every friend group she’s had. While Makayla loves the city life that Paris and New York have provided, she relishes the time she gets to spend with her parents in northern California.
Purpose
Makayla grew up in a household where her mother was the main breadwinner. Her mom is also the hardest worker Makayla knows, while simultaneously never missing a school function and always prioritizing family. Her mother taught her the importance of financial independence and inspired her to learn as much as she could about gender issues and equality. Makayla is honored to be part of a firm which helps women achieve financial freedom and independence, just like her mother encouraged in her.
