Professionally

Deborah graduated from Barnard College with a major in French literature and a minor in English. For over 20 years, Deborah developed her own photography business, and her passion for photography takes her to many areas of the world, most recently to remote villages of the Himalayas of Nepal, where she went to document conventional and holistic medical relief efforts during a two-week-long medical service trip.

Personally

Deborah is the proud mother of two children in their 20s, who have finally stopped being embarrassed by her every move. Her nurturing, kind and balanced nature also contributed to her Francis Financial nickname – our “office mom.” Deborah enjoys reading fiction, practicing yoga, and strolling on the beach at any time of year. She is also a health guru and makes sure that the team gets their weekly dose of fresh fruit from the farmer’s market. Deborah recently moved from Manhattan to Far Rockaway, where she can often be found walking her dog on the beach.

Purpose

When I went through my divorce, I suddenly and unexpectedly found myself to be solely responsible for providing for my two children. It was an incredibly scary time, and as I was scrambling to make ends meet and educate myself, financially, I kicked myself more than once for having relied on someone who was, ultimately, unreliable. In a better place, now, I look back and realize what a game changer it was to start educating myself and take control of my financial life, and how that gave me a very real sense of agency over my own life.
