Makayla is very passionate about the mission of Francis Financial and the firm’s commitment to financial empowerment. At a young age, Makayla’s mother taught her the importance of financial independence and inspired her to learn as much as she could about gender issues and equality. She assists in all marketing efforts and brings positivity and enthusiasm to every task.
Makayla graduated from George Washington University, where she earned a degree in International Affairs with a specialization in Global Public Health and a minor in French. She was particularly interested in gender issues through the lens of International Affairs and took courses such as “Women, Rights and Gender Equality” and “Women and Leadership in Africa.” Makayla did a semester abroad in Paris as well as a summer as an au pair in the Parisian suburbs. After graduation, she moved to Paris full-time and immersed herself in the French language and culture. She spent two years as an au pair to four children and one year teaching high school English. During this time, Makayla discovered a love for marketing after heading up the social media, video content and brand image for a Parisian brand strategist specializing in helping small, women-led businesses.
