Mike brings more than 35 years of experience in investment research, portfolio management, and asset allocation to Francis Financial. As our Trading & Operations Associate, Mike manages trading operations, maintains centralized portfolio platforms, and develops tailored investment proposals and performance reports. He began his career at Mercer Investment Consulting and later joined Society Asset Management, working on the municipal bond trading desk before transitioning into equity research. Mike spent the next 20 years as a Principal at Gofen and Glossberg, LLC, advising wealthy executives, multi-generational families, and foundations, many with assets exceeding $1 billion. Today, he blends this high-level advisory experience with active portfolio rebalancing and financial planning support for the firm's growing client base.
Professionally
Mike brings more than three decades of experience across investment research, portfolio management, and investment operations. He began his career at Mercer Investment Consulting, where he worked as a Senior Analyst and Consultant advising institutional investors. He later joined Society Asset Management, spending time on the municipal bond trading desk focused on credit analysis before transitioning into equity research.
Mike spent the next 20 years as a Principal at Gofen and Glossberg, LLC. His clients included wealthy executives, multi-generational families, foundations, and professional associations, many with assets exceeding $1 billion. His research responsibilities included sectors such as technology, energy, and financial services, and he developed corporate bond solvency models used in credit evaluation. Over time, he also led the firm’s fund and alternative investment research efforts.
He graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Economics and earned his MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Personally
Mike lives in the far northern suburbs of Chicago with his wife of more than 30 years, Mary Ann. They have been active in animal rescue for decades and currently host a menagerie of fur and scale babies in their home.

My approach has always been grounded in careful research, disciplined strategy, and a long-term perspective. My goal is to help ensure that investment decisions remain aligned with the objectives that matter most, while providing the clarity and structure needed to navigate changing markets.
